EPK

Surly Grrly is a queercore alt-punk band formed at Earlham College in 2018. Their early shows included a history (and criticism) of the Riot Grrrl movement which combined storytelling, videos, covers, and originals. They were also a staple of a monthly music showcase featuring womxn, trans & non-binary performers.
Their songs evoke rage and passion, with politically-driven lyrics about bigotry, queerness, and misogyny over melodic bass lines and heavily distorted guitar. With a satisfyingly raw sound reminiscent of 80's garage punk, Surly Grrly uses catchy hooks and tempo changes to rile up a crowd, including a variety of bombastic covers in their live shows. Frequently trading instruments, the three-piece band is vocalist/guitarist/bassist Medbh McNamara, guitarist/vocalist Eloïse Boigenzahn, and drummer Melody Che.
